A man sells two articles at Rs 9,975 each. He gains 5% on one article and loses 5% on the other. Find his overall gain or loss.

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. Loss of Rs 50.

CP of the article on which a man gains 5%.

CP = 9975 × 100/105 = 9500.

CP of the article on which a man loses 5%

CP = 9975 × 100/95 = 10500

Total SP = 2 × 9975 = 19950

Total CP = 9500 + 10500 = 20000

Loss = 20000 - 19950 = ₹50.
