Question 1 / 90

A cylindrical tank, 14 m in radius, contains water up to the depth of 7 m. What is the total area of the wetted surface? (Use π = 22/7)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e 1232 m2.

Lateral surface area = 2 × π × r × h = 2 × (22/7) × 14 × 7 = 2 × 22 × 14 = 616 m²

Base area = π × r² = (22/7) × 14 × 14 = 616 m²

Total wetted surface area = 616 + 616 = 1232 m²
