Explanation

Correct Answer is option 4 i.e. 10 : 17

Understanding

Application

Given:

Ratio of the present ages of A and B is 8: 15

Suppose present ages of A and B are 8x and 15x

Eight years ago, the ratio of their ages was 6 : 13

Eight years ago:

(8x – 8)/(15x – 8) = 6/13

⇒ 104x – 104 = 90x – 48

⇒ 14x = 56

⇒ x = 4

Then age of A = 32 and that of B = 60

Ratio of their age after 8 years

= (32 + 8)/(60 + 8)

= 40/68

= 10 : 17
