If the population of males below the poverty line for State C is 3 million, then what is the total population of State C?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e 26.326 million

The population of males below the poverty line for State C = 3 million

The ratio of male and female in state C below the poverty line = 3 : 2

⇒ The population of females below the poverty line for State C = 3 million × (2/3)

⇒ 2 million

Total population of state C below the poverty line = 2 million + 3 million

⇒ 5 million

The 19% population of state C = 5,000,000

Total population of state C = 5,000,000 × (100/19)

⇒ 26.326 million
