In an election, there were three candidates. The first candidate got 40% votes and the second candidate got 35% votes. If the total votes in the election are 50,000, find the number of votes got by the third candidate.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 12500.

Total votes = 50000

First candidate's votes = 40% of 50000 = 20000 votes

Second candidate's votes = 35% of 50000 = 17500 votes

So,

Votes of third candidate = Total votes - (Votes of first + Votes of second)

⇒ 50000 - (20000 + 17500)

⇒ 50000 - 37500 = 12500
