Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 16170.

Let the number of votes obtained by S be 100x.

⇒ Votes obtained by R = 110% of S

⇒ Votes obtained by R = 110% of 100x

⇒ 110x

Given that, R - S = 770

⇒ 110x - 100x = 770

⇒ 10x = 770

⇒ x = 77

Total number of votes polled = 100x + 110x

⇒ 210x

⇒ 210 × 77 = 16170

Hence the total number of votes polled is 16170.
