Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. Coelenterates

What is called diploblastic?
  • Diploblastic animals are those whose cells are organised into the exterior ectoderm and internal endoderm of two embryonic layers. A diploblastic example is a coelenterate. Between the ectoderm and the endoderm is a layer of undifferentiated tissue called the mesoglea is present.
  • In diploblastic animals, mesoderm is absent.

Phylum with diploblastic animals.
  • Animals included in phylum Cnidaria and Ctenophora are diploblastic animals.

Additional information-

  1. Platyhelminthes - Because of its three germ layers, endoderm, ectoderm, and mesoderm, which are found in all multicellular creatures with the exception of sponges and cnidarians, platyhelminthes is regarded as being triploblastic.
  2. Archanida - The subphylum Chelicerata contains a family of joint-legged invertebrate organisms known as arthropods called Arachnida. Arthropods are likewise triploblastic since they contain three germinal cell layers. Crustaceans (shrimp, lobster and crab), Arachnids (mites, spiders and scorpions), and Insects (butterflies, beetles, flies, ants and cockroaches) are a few examples of these.
  3. Chordates - Animals called chordates, which have three embryonic layers in their bodies—the outside ectoderm, the inner endoderm, and the middle mesoderm—are called triploblastic. In addition, chordates have a dorsal nerve cord and notochord and are coelomates.
