Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 2016.

Total votes polled = 6050

Lalit got 8% of the total votes polled.

Total votes of Lalit = 8% of 6050 = 8 × 6050/100 = 484 votes

Let the total votes obtained by Hari be H.

Total votes obtained by Lalit and Hari together = H + 484

Kamal got 42% more votes than the total votes obtained by Hari and Lalit together.

Total votes obtained by Kamal = 42% more than (H + 484) = 1.42(H + 484)

According to the question -

⇒ 484 + H + 1.42(H + 484) = 6050

⇒ 484 + H + 1.42H + 687.28 = 6050

⇒ 2.42H = 6050 - 1171.28

⇒ H = 4878.72/2.42 = 2016
