SSC CGL Tier II - 26 October 2023 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q9

B purchased 15 kg apples at the rate of ₹180 per kg from a wholesaler who uses a weight of 950 grams for the kg weight. B sold all these apples at ₹180 per kg but used a weight of 750 grams for the kg weight. Find the percentage profit earned by B in the transaction (correct to 2 places of decimal).

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 26.67%.

Given that

B first incurs a loss while purchasing and then incurs a gain while selling

Profit % = (Selling price- Cost price)/Cost price× 100

The S.P : C.P ratio is given by

S.PC.P\frac{S.P}{C.P} = 9501000\frac{950}{1000} × 1000750\frac{1000}{750}

⇒ S.PC.P\frac{S.P}{C.P} = 9575\frac{95}{75} = 1.2667

Percentage profit earned = 1.2667−11\frac{1.2667 - 1}{1} × 100

Hence the percentage profit earned = 26.67%
