SSC CGL - 4th June 2019 - Shift 1 • Reasoning • Q84

Which two signs should be interchanged in the following equation to make it correct?

12 - 8 + 12 × 9 ÷ 3 = 9

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. + and ÷

Given equation: 12 - 8 + 12 × 9 ÷ 3 = 9

From option 1 by interchanging signs + and ÷, we get;

12 - {(8 ÷ 12) × 9} + 3 = 9

⇒ 12 - 6 + 3 = 9

⇒ 15 - 6 = 9

Hence, option 1 is the correct answer.
