Correct answer: D
Explanation
The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. Hockey.
The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in September 2014, aims to improve India's performance in the Olympics and Paralympics by providing extensive support to elite athletes. The scheme was revamped in April 2018 to set up a technical support team for managing TOPS athletes and offering comprehensive assistance.
Among the given options, Hockey is included in the TOPS program. It is regarded as a high-priority sport under the scheme, acknowledging India's historical accomplishments and potential in the sport.
Why not the other options?
-
Tennis: Although tennis is an Olympic sport, it is not categorized as a high-priority sport under the TOPS scheme.
-
Football: Despite being an Olympic sport, Indian football is not considered a high-priority area within the TOPS framework.
-
Cricket: Cricket is not an Olympic sport and, as a result, is not included in the TOPS scheme.
