Two numbers are in the ratio of 5 : 9. If 25 is subtracted from each, the ratio becomes 25 : 49. Find the numbers.

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 150, 270.

Let numbers be 5x and 9x

⇒ (5x−25)(9x−25)=2549{(5x-25)\over(9x-25)}={25\over49}

⇒ 49(5x - 25) = 25(9x - 25)

⇒ 245x − 1225 = 225x − 625

⇒ 20x = 600

⇒ x = 30

Numbers = 5x = 150, 9x = 270
