SSC CGL Tier II - 26 October 2023 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q13

Three cards are drawn one after another with replacements from a pack of cards. What is the probability of getting first card a Jack, second card a black card, and third card an even-numbered card?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 5338\frac{5}{338}.

Given that

3 cards are drawn with replacement

Total number of cards in a deck = 52

Total jacks = 4

Total black cards = 26

Total even numbered cards = 5 × 4 = 20

Formula used

Probability = (desired outcomes) / (total number of outcomes)

P(drawing a jack) = 452\frac{4}{52}

P(drawing a black card) = 2652\frac{26}{52}

P(drawing an even-numbered card) = 2052\frac{20}{52}

Hence required probability = 452\frac{4}{52} × 2652\frac{26}{52}× 2052\frac{20}{52} = 5338\frac{5}{338}
