The sum of two numbers x and y (where x is greater than y) equals four times their difference. Find the value of 5xy3(x2−y2)5xy \over {3(x^2 - y^2)}.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e.251625 \over 16.

The sum of two numbers x and y equals four times their difference

⇒ x + y = 4(x - y)

⇒ x + y = 4x - 4y

⇒ 4x - x = y + 4y

⇒ 3x = 5y

⇒ x/y = 5/3

On putting the values in 5xy3(x2−y2)5xy \over {3(x^2 - y^2)}

⇒ 5×5×33(52−32)5\times 5\times3 \over {3(5^2 - 3^2)}

⇒ 25(25−9)25 \over {(25 - 9)} = 251625 \over {16}
