Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

Correct Answer is option 1 i.e. Rs.30,000

Understanding

Application

Suppose the salary of A = x

Salary of B = 42000 – x

A spends 75% of his salary and B spends 90% of his salary;

Saving of A = 100 - 75 = 25%

Saving of B = 100 - 90 = 10%

As per the question:

x × 0.25 = (42000 – x) × 0.1

⇒ 0.25x = 4200 – 0.1x

⇒ 0.35x = 4200

⇒ x = 12000

Hence,

Salary of B = 42000 – 12000 = Rs.30000
