SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 30/11/2016 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q94

The sum of squares of three positive integers is 323. If the sum of squares of two numbers is twice the third, their product is ?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option1

Now, a2 + b2 + c2 = 323 .....(1)

And, a2 + b2 = 2c .....(2)

using (1) and (2)

2c + c2 = 323

c2+2c - 323 = 0

(c + 19)(c - 17) = 0

c = 17, c = -19

But c is not equal to -19

Now, a2 + b2 = 34

a = 2 and b = 5 satisfy the equation

abc = 3 × 5 × 17 = 255
