Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: A
Explanation
The correct answer is option 1 i.e. Islam.
The state religion of Bangladesh is Islam. This was established through Article 2A of the Constitution, which states:“The state religion of the Republic is Islam, but the State shall ensure equal status and equal right in the practice of the Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and other religions.”
This provision was added in 1988 during President Hussain Muhammad Ershad's regime. While Islam is the state religion, the Constitution also guarantees equal rights for individuals of all faiths, reflecting a commitment to secularism in governance. However, debates continue regarding the balance between state religion and secular principles.
