Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

Correct answer is option 3 i.e. 80 years

Understanding

Application

Ratio of the ages of A and B four years ago was 4 : 5

Let

Present Age of A = 4x + 4

Present Age of B = 5x + 4

Eight years from now, the ratio of the ages of A and B will be 11 : 13

After 8 years from now:

(4x + 4 + 8) : (5x + 4 + 8) = 11 : 13

⇒ (4x + 12)/(5x + 12) = 11/13

⇒ 52x + 156 = 55x + 132

⇒ 3x = 24

⇒ x = 8

Hence,

Sum of their present age

= 9x + 8 = 80 years
