The outer surface of a sphere having a diameter 10 m is painted at the rate of Rs. 80π\frac{80}{\pi} per m2 . What is the cost of painting?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. Rs. 8000.

Given that

The diameter of the sphere = 10 m

The radius of the sphere = r = 5 m

Rate of painting = 80π\frac{80}{\pi} per m2

Formula used

The surface area of a sphere = 4 × π × r2

Hence, the surface area of the sphere = 4 × π × 52 = 100 × pi m2

The total cost of painting the sphere = 100 × π × 80π\frac{80}{\pi} = 8000

Hence, the total cost of painting the sphere is Rs. 8000.
