The one-day work of 2 men is equal to the one-day work of 4 women or the one-day work of 8 qualified workers. 10 qualified workers can finish the work in 8 days. If a man, a woman, and a qualified worker work in the same order on three different days, the work is finished in ____ days.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 1354\frac{135}{4}.

1 day work of 10 qualified workers = 1/80

1 day work of 1 man = 4 × 1/80 = 1/40

1 day work of 1 woman = 1/40

Work on 3 days = 1/20 + 1/40 + 1/80 = 7/80

Number of  full 3-day cycles = 80/7 = 11 cycles = 33 days

Work done in 33 days = 11 × 7/80 = 77/80

Remaining work = 1 - 77/80 = 3/80

Next worker (man) does 1/20 per day

Time = 3/80 ÷ 1/20 = 3/4 day

Total time = 33 + 3/4 = 1354\frac{135}{4} days
