Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 8%.

Given:

M.P. = Rs. 2,400 which is 20% above its C.P.

Discount = 10%

Concept Used:

S.P.=M.P.×(100−D)100S.P. = M.P. \times {(100 - D) \over 100}     ...(i)

Profit %=(S.P.−C.P.)C.P.×100Profit\ \%= {(S.P. - C.P.) \over C.P.} \times 100     ...(ii)

Explanation:

According to the given question, M.P. = 120% of C.P.

⇒ 2,400 = (120/100) × C.P.

⇒ C.P. = 400 × 5 = 2000

Now, Using equation (i), we get

S.P. = 2400×(100−10)1002400 \times {(100 - 10) \over 100}

⇒ S.P. = 24 × 90

⇒ S.P. = 2160

Now, using equation (ii), we get

Profit % = (2160−2000)2000×100{(2160 - 2000) \over 2000} \times 100

⇒ Profit % = 160/20

⇒ Profit % = 8

Hence the profit percentage is 8%.
