SSC MTS 2022 PYQ — Question 54

SSC MTS - 26 July 2022 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q54

The length of a rope, by which a calf is tied, is decreased from 9m to 5 m. Find the decrease in the area that can be grazed by the calf. [ Use π=227\pi=\frac{22}{7}]

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 176 m2

Let r1 be 9 m and r2 be 5 m -

So,

The decrease in the area to be grazed by the calf = πr12−πr22\pi r_{1}^{2}-\pi r_{2}^{2}

The decrease in the area to be grazed by the calf = π(r12−r22)\pi\left ( r_{1}^{2}-r_{2}^{2} \right ) = 227(92−52)\frac{22}{7}\left ( 9^{2}-5^{2}\right )= 227(81−25)\frac{22}{7} ( 81-25 )= 227×56\frac{22}{7} \times 56

The decrease in the area to be grazed by the calf = 176 m2
