Study the pie chart and table and answer the question that follows.

The below table shows the ratio of girls and boys in the given five schools.

The number of girls in school D is what percentage less than the number of boys in school B (correct to the nearest integer)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 33%

Let the total number of students in the schools be 100.

Number of students in school D = 100 × 18% = 18

Number of girls in school D = 18 × (1/3) = 6

Number of students in school B = 100 × 15% = 15

Number of boys in school B = 15 × (3/5) = 9

Difference = 9 - 6 = 3

Required % = (3/9) × 100 = 33.33% ≈ 33%
