Correct answer: A
Explanation
The correct answer is option 1 i.e. Gopal Krishna Gokhale.
The 'Deccan Sabha' was primarily founded by Gopal Krishna Gokhale in 1896.
While the intellectual inspiration for the Deccan Sabha came from Mahadev Govind Ranade, Gokhale was the key figure who took the initiative to establish the organization. The Deccan Sabha aimed to promote the social, political, and economic progress of the people in the Deccan region through constitutional means. It advocated for reforms within the existing British framework and focused on issues like education, local self-government, and agrarian welfare. Gokhale, a prominent moderate leader of the Indian National Congress, used the Deccan Sabha as a platform to articulate his liberal nationalist views and train future leaders.
