SSC CGL - 01 Dec 2022 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q59

The circumference of the two circles is 198 cm and 352 cm respectively. What is the difference between their radii?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4. i.e. 24.5 cm.

Let the radii be R1 and R2 -

Circumference of the first circle = 2πR12\pi R_{1}

2πR1=1982\pi R_{1}= 198

So,

⇒ R1=198×72×22R_{1}= \frac{198\times 7}{2\times 22}

 ⇒ R1=31.5R_{1}=31.5

Now,

Circumference of the second circle = 2πR22\pi R_{2}

2πR2=3522\pi R_{2}= 352

 ⇒ R2=352×72×22R_{2}= \frac{352\times 7}{2\times 22}

 ⇒ R2=56R_{2}=56

So,

The difference in the their radii = 56 - 31.5

The difference in their radii = 24.5 cm
