SSC CGL - 17 Sep 2024 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q52

The circumference of the base of a cylindrical vessel is 44 cm, and its height is 25 cm. How many liters of water can it hold? (Take π = 22722\over 7)

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 3.85.

The circumference of a circle is = 2πr, where r is the radius

So, 2πr = 44

⇒ 2 × (22/7) × r = 44

⇒ r = 7

Volume of a cylinder = πr2h, where r is the radius and h is the height

= (22/7) × 72 × 25

= 3850 cm3

= 3850/1000 liters

= 3.85 liters

Therefore, the cylindrical vessel can hold 3.85 liters of water.
