Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 6000

Understanding

Application

CP of 6 tables & 12 chairs = Rs 12000

Suppose CP of 1 table is ‘x’ and CP of 1 chair is ‘y’

6x + 12y = 12000……………………(1)

She sold the tables at a profit of 15% and the chairs at a loss of 10% and her total gain was Rs. 300:

6x × 1.15 + 12y × 0.9 = 12000 + 300

6.9x + 10.8y = 12300………………. (2)

Multiply equation 1 by 0.9 and subtract from equation 2:

(6.9 – 5.4)x = 12300 – 10800

1.5x = 1500

x = 1000

Hence, total cost of tables = 6x = Rs. 6000
