Study the given pie - chart and answer the question that follows.

The pie-chart represents the consumption of fuel (in million liters) by various modes of transport of a country X in the year 2015. The total consumption of fuel by various modes of transport of the country is 800 million liters.

The fuel consumed by light vehicles is approximately what percentage of the combined consumption of fuel for aviation and waterways?

Explanation:

According to the given pie chart,

The fuel consumed by light vehicles = 70°360°×800{70° \over 360°}\times 800 = 155.5

And, the combined consumption of fuel for aviation and waterways = 45°+90°360°×800{45° + 90° \over 360°}\times 800 = 135°360°×800{135° \over 360°}\times 800 = 300

Now, required percentage = 155.5300×100{155.5 \over 300}\times 100 = 51.8 ≈ 52%

Hence the required answer is 52%.
