Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. punished.

Context: The sentence describes a child being restricted by rules or discipline, so the missing word should indicate negative consequences for disobedience.

Meaning of the words:

Rewarded: To give something in recognition of good behavior, opposite of intended meaning.
Granted: To allow or give, not suitable here.
Punished: To impose a penalty for misbehavior, correct in this context.
Displayed: To show or exhibit, irrelevant here.

Correct word: Punished

Reason: The sentence implies that children face consequences when they don’t follow rules, so “punished” fits the context perfectly.

Final Sentence: However, a child has their pains; they are not free to do as they wish; they are continually being told not to do things or are being punished.

Hence, the chosen option is correct.
