Rs 11,550 has to be divided between X, Y and Z such that X gets 4/5 of what Y gets and Y gets 2/3 of what Z gets. How much more does Z get over X (in Rs)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 2450

X = (4/5)Y     (given)

Y = (2/3)Z     (given)

So,

Z = (3/2) × (5/4) X

⇒ Z = (15/8)X

Now,

X + Y + Z = 11550

⇒ X + (5/4)X + (15/8)X = 11550

⇒ X = (11550 × 8)/33 = 2800

⇒ Z = 15X/8 = (15 × 2800)/8 = 5250

Hence,

Z gets = 5250 - 2800 = 2450 more than X
