Ramendra purchased some watermelons for ₹1,500. He sold one-fourth of them at a loss of 12%. At what gain percentage should the remaining watermelons be sold so as to gain 25% on the whole transaction (correct to two decimal places)?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 37.33%.

SP of whole watermelones = (125/100) × 1500 = 1875

CP of 1/4th of watermelons = 1500/4 = 375

SP of 1/4th part = (88/100) × 375 = 330

Remaining part = 1500 - 375 = 1125

SP of remaining part = 1875 - 330 = 1545

Required percentage =1545−11251125×100=4201125×100=37.33%=\frac{1545-1125}{1125}\times100=\frac{420}{1125}\times100=37.33\% (approx)

Therefore, the remaining watermelons will be sold at 37.33%.
