SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 17/02/2018 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q8

N is the largest two digit number, which when divided by 3, 4 and 6 leaves the remainder 1, 2 and 4 respectively. What is the remainder when N is divided by 5?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 4.

Negative remainder = 1 - 3 = -2

                                    = 2 - 4 = -2

                                    = 4 - 6 = -2

N = LCM(3, 4, 6) - 2

     = 12 × k = -2

     = k = 8

⇒ 12 × 8 - 2 = 99

 = 94/5

= 4 (remainder)
