But Ketan and Tushar will get money only when they turn 22 years old. Till then the money is in a bank getting interest at rate 8% compounded annually. When both turn 22, they receive the same amount. How much had Mandar given Tushar (in ₹) initially, if total money with Mandar was ₹24700?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 12825.

Let Ketan's share = ₹x
Then Tushar's share = ₹(24700 − x)

Ketan: Invested for (22 − 11) = 11 years

Tushar: Invested for (22 − 12) = 10 years

x(1.08)11=(24700−x)(1.08)10⇒x×1.08=24700−x⇒x(1+1.08)=24700⇒x(2.08)=24700⇒x=247002.08=11875x(1.08)^{11} = (24700 - x)(1.08)^{10} \\[8pt] \Rightarrow x \times 1.08 = 24700 - x \\ \Rightarrow x(1 + 1.08) = 24700 \\ \Rightarrow x(2.08) = 24700 \\ \Rightarrow x = \frac{24700}{2.08} = 11875

So, Tushar's share = 24700 − 11875 = ₹12825
