In the given figure, the length of arc AB is equal to 3 times radius r of the circle.

Find the area of sector OAB in terms of radius r.

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 1.5 r2.

We know that,

Area of an arc = θ/360 × πr2

θ = arc/radius

Now, according to the question

Here, the arc = 3r

So,

⇒ θ = 3r/r

⇒ θ = 3

The area of the sector OAB is,

⇒ 3/360 × 180 × r2 = 3/2r2 = 1.5r2
