SSC CGL 2023 PYQ — Question 64

SSC CGL - 20 July 2023 - Shift 1 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q64

C1 and C2 are two concentric circles such that the radius of C2 is less than the radius of C1. If AB is the chord of C1 of length 12 cm, touching C2 at P, find the length of AP.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 4 i.e. 6 cm.

Let O be the center of both circles

We draw a perpendicular OP on AB

OP cuts AB into two equal parts

Such that,

⇒ AP = PB

⇒ AB = 12 cm then,

length of AP = AB2AB \over 2 = 12212\over 2 = 6 cm
