SSC CGL Tier II Quant - 20/02/2018 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q35

In the given figure, ABCD is a square. EFGH is a square formed by joing mid points of sides of ABCD. LMNO is a square formed by joining mid point of sides of EFGH. A circle is inscribed inside EFGH. If area of circle is 38.5 cm2, then what is the area (in cm2) of square ABCD?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 196

Given area of circle = 38.5 cm2

HG = Diagonal of square LMNO =

In triangle HGC,

HC2 + GC2 = HG2

∴ HC = CG = 7 cm

CD = 2 × HC = 14 cm

∴ Area of square ABCD = 142 = 196 cm2
