SSC CGL - 7 March 2020 Shift 2 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q65

In quadrilateral PQRS, RM ⊥ QS, PN ⊥ QS and QS = 6 cm. If RM = 3 cm and PN = 2 cm, then the sum of the area of quad PQRS and △SQR is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 23 cm2.

It is given that,

QS = 6 cm, RM = 3 cm, PN = 2 cm

Area of PQRS = Area of triangle PQS + Area of triangle SQR

⇒ ((1/2) × 2 × 6) + ((1/2) × 3 × 6)

⇒ 6 + 9

⇒ 15 cm2

Thus, the sum of quad PQRS and △SQR = 15 + 9 = 24 cm2
