In an exam, out of the total number of appeared students, 93 percent students passed and 9275 students failed. What is the total number of students who appeared in the exam?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 132500.

Given that

The percentage of students who passed the exam = 93 %

Hence the percentage of students who failed the exam = 100 - 93 = 7%

The number of students who failed the exam is given = 9275

Let the total number of students who appeared for the exam be 'y'

According to the question

7100\frac{7}{100} × y = 9275

⇒ y = 9275×1007\frac{9275 × 100}{7} = 132500

Hence, the total number of students who appeared for the exam was 132500
