Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 1 i.e. 5280

Calculations:

Total number of voters = 100x

12% did not cast votes, remaining = 88% of 100x = 88x

Winning candidate = 68% of 100x = 68x

Losing candidate = 100x - 68x - 12x = 20x

According to the question;

⇒ 68x - 20x = 2880

⇒ 48x = 2880

⇒ x = 60

Total number of voters who cast their votes in the election = 88x

⇒ 5280
