Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 2500.

There are two candidates Ram and Shyam who appeared in an election. The candidate got 30% of the total votes and lost by 900 votes.

Let the total votes voted to be 100x.

The candidate got 30% of the total votes = 30x

Winning candidate got = 100x - 30x = 70x votes.

ATQ -

30x + 900 = 70x

x = 22.5

The total number of votes = 100x = 100 × 22.5 = 2250

90% of voters voted out of the total voting list.

Let the total number of voters in the voting list be y.

ATQ -

 y(90%) = 2250

y = 2250(100)/90 = 2500
