SSC CPO - 27 June 2024 - Shift 3 • Quantitative Aptitude • Q137

In an election, A received 27% of the votes and B received 125,982 votes. 19% did not cast their votes. Find the number of votes received by A.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 62,991.

Given that

19% did not cast their vote

⇒ Percentage of votes casted = 81%

Out of this 81% A received 27% of the votes

Hence B received = 81 - 27 = 54% votes

According to the question

54% = 125982

⇒ 100% = 1259820054\frac{12598200}{54}= 233300

Hence the total votes = 233300

Votes received by A = 27% of 233300 = 62291
