If (x3 – 2√2 y3) ÷ (x – √2y) = (Ax2+ Bxy + Cy2) then, (2A + 4√2 B – 4C) = ?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

Correct Answer is option 4 i.e. 2

Concept

Understanding

Application

x3 + y3 = (x + y) (x2 + y2 – xy)

Given

(x3 – 2√2 y3) ÷ (x - √2y) = Ax2 + Bxy + Cy2

(x3 – 2√2 y3) = (x - √2y) (x2 + √2xy + 2y2)

Using this in given expression:

⇒ (x2 + √2 xy + 2y2) = Ax2 + Bxy + Cy2

Comparing the coefficients:

A = 1, B = √2, C = 2

Hence,

(2A + 4√2 B – 4C) = (2 + 8 – 8) = 2
