Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 14 : 13

According to the question,

(24 - x) : (40 - x) :: (33 - x)(57 - x)

Product of extremes = Product of means

(24 - x)(57 - x) = (40 - x)(33 - x).

1368 - 24x - 57x - x2 = 1320 - 40x - 33x + x2

48 = 8x

x = 6.

Required ratio = 5x + 12 : 4x + 15

42 : 39 = 14 : 13.
