Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2 i.e. 13.

Given:

Number = 123456xy

Concept Used:

Divisibility rule of 8: A number is divisible by 8 when the last three digits of a number are divisible by 8.

nth term of an AP , an = a + (1 - n)d

Explanation:

If the number 123456xy is divisible by 8, then the possible numbers can be 600, 608, 616,.....,696.

Now we have, a = 600, d = 8, an = 696 and n = ?

So putting the values in the formula, we get

⇒ 696 = 600 + (n - 1)(8)

⇒ 96 = 8n - 8

⇒ 8n = 104

⇒ n = 13

Hence the total possible pairs of (x,y) are 13.
