If cos2θcot2θ+sin2θ−1=3\frac{cos^2 \theta}{cot^2\theta + sin^2\theta -1} = 3 , 0º < θ < 90º, then the value of (tanθ + cosecθ) is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 5√33\frac{5√3}{3}

Given :

cos2θcot2θ+sin2θ−1=3\frac{cos^2 \theta}{cot^2\theta + sin^2\theta -1} = 3

and 0º < θ < 90º.

Concept used :

Trigonometric functions

sin2A + cos2A = 1      ----- (1)

cosec2A - cot2A = 1        ----- (2)

Calculations :

⇒  cos2θcot2θ+sin2θ−1=3\frac{cos^2 \theta}{cot^2\theta + sin^2\theta -1} = 3

Using equation (1), we get

⇒ cos2θcos2θsin2θ−cos2θ\frac{cos^2\theta}{\frac{cos^2\theta}{sin^2\theta} - cos^2\theta } = 3

⇒ cos2θcos2θ(cosec2θ−1)\frac{cos^2\theta}{cos^2\theta(cosec^2\theta - 1)} = 3

Using equation (2)

⇒ 1cot2θ\frac{1}{cot^2\theta} = 3

⇒ tan2θ=3tan^2\theta = 3

⇒ tanθ=3tan \theta = \sqrt3

⇒ θ=tan−1(3)\theta = tan ^{-1}(\sqrt3)

⇒ θ=\theta =  60°

Now put the value of θ\theta

⇒  (tanθ + cosecθ)

⇒ tan 60 + cosec 60

⇒ 3+23\sqrt 3 + \frac{2}{\sqrt 3}

⇒ (3 + 2)/3\sqrt3

⇒ 5/35/\sqrt 3

⇒ 533\frac{5\sqrt3}{3}.
