Hola Mohalla is a festival associated with which religion/belief?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: D

Explanation

The correct answer is option 4 i.e. Sikhism.

Hola Mohalla is a vibrant festival associated with Sikhism, celebrated primarily in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab.

Key Aspects:

  • Origin: Instituted by Guru Gobind Singh (10th Sikh Guru) in 1701 as a martial display of Sikh valor.

  • Timing: Occurs a day after Holi, blending spiritual fervor with martial arts (Gatka), poetry, and community service.

  • Significance: Honors the Khalsa tradition, showcasing Sikh bravery and unity through processions (Nagar Kirtan) and mock battles.

Unlike Holi’s playful colors, Hola Mohalla emphasizes courage and devotion, reflecting Sikhism’s warrior ethos. The festival culminates with prayers at Gurdwaras and communal meals (Langar).
