For a triangle, ABC, D, and E are two points on AB and AC such that AD = 16{{1} \over 6}AB,  AE = 16{{1} \over 6}AC. If BC = 22 cm, then DE is __________.(Consider up to two decimals)

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 3.67 cm.

Given:

D and E are two points on AB and AC

AD = 16{{1} \over 6}AB

AE = 16{{1} \over 6}AC

BC = 22 cm

Similarity of triangles

DE || BC

△ADE is similar to △ABC

Such that,

⇒ AD/AB = AE/AC = DE/BC

⇒ 1/6 = DE/22

⇒ DE = 22/6 

⇒ DE = 3.67 cm
