Find the sum of squares of the greatest value and the smallest value of K in the number so that number 45082K is divisible by 3.

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: B

Explanation

The correct answer is Option 2. i.e 68.

The divisibility rule of 3 says that the sum of the digits of a number must be divisible by 3.

Sum of the digit of the number = 4 + 5 + 0 + 8 + 2 + K = 19 + K.

The possible value of K so which the required number must be divisible by 3 will be 2, 5, 8.

The greatest possible value of K is 8 and the smallest possible value of K is 2.

Required sum = 82 + 22 = 64 + 4 = 68.
