By selling an article at 7/12 of its selling price, a man loses 16%. If he sells it at 90% of its original selling price, then what will be the profit percentage?

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: A

Explanation

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 29.6%

Explanation:

Let the original selling price b x.

According to the given question,

Cost Price = 7x12×10084{7x \over 12} \times {100 \over 84} = 25x3625x \over 36

Now, the selling price = 90% of x = 9x109x \over 10

So, the profit = 9x109x \over 10 -  25x3625x \over 36 = 37x18037x \over 180

Now, profit % = 37x18025x36×100\frac{{37x \over 180}}{{25x \over 36}} \times 100 = 1485148 \over 5 = 29.6%

Hence the required answer is 29.6%.
