By decreasing 17° from each angle of a triangle, the ratio of their angles is 3 : 4 : 7. The radian measure of the greatest angle is:

Show answer & explanation

Correct answer: C

Explanation

The correct answer is option 3 i.e. 163π360\frac{163\pi}{360}.

Let the three angles of the triangle be 3x, 4x and 7x.

Sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180.

After decreasing each angle by 17, sum of angles of traingle = 180 - (3 × 17)

⇒ 180 - 51 = 129

Now, 3x + 4x + 7x = 129

⇒ 14x = 129

⇒ x = 129/14

Now, largest angle = 7x + 17

⇒ 7(129/14) + 17

⇒ (129/2) + 17

⇒ 163/2

Measure in radian = 1632×π180{163 \over 2} \times {\pi \over 180} = 163π360\frac{163\pi}{360}
